Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth combines a relatively realistic first-person shooter with psychological horror, in an attempt to increase the sense of immersion. The game is based on the works of HP Lovecraft, author of "The Call of Cthulhu" and progenitor of the Cthulhu Mythos, and in particular an adaptation reimagined Lovecraft novella The Shadow Over Innsmouth is based. Located mainly in 1922, follows the story of Jack Walters, has taken a mentally unstable private eye to investigate a case of disappearance Innsmouth, a strange and mysterious city that is cut off from the rest of the United States.

 Age of Empires requires the player to develop a civilization from a handful of hunter-gatherers to a vast empire of the Iron Age. To assure victory, the player must gather resources to pay for new units, buildings and technologies. The resources must be preserved, as no new resources become available in the course of the game, for example, trees that are cut will not grow back.

Twelve civilizations are available. Each with the individual settings of attributes, including a variable number of available technologies and units. Each civilization has unique technologies for them, so that no civilization possesses all possible technologies within the game

An important component of the game is to progress through four centuries. These are the Stone Age (Mesolithic / Nomad / Paleolithic), the Tool Age (Neolithic / Chalcolithic), the Bronze Age and the Iron Age. Advancement between ages is researched at the center of the country, and every advance brings the reader new technologies, weapons and units.
