Serious Sam games are created in the style of traditional shooters, first-person like Doom and Quake. The attacking enemies often spawn and great wave of the paper, and the player should place their missiles and expenses bombardment jumping and cover dodge. Health and armor are not renewable, but be crowned with medical kits and armor, which are scattered throughout the game. Health available is represented by a percentage on the display. The combat system is fast paced and hectic steps usually consist of a series of arenas in which the player has developed a number of re-spawning enemies before battling the next. The player can make an unlimited number of weapons and ammunition is plentiful.

The visual style of the game is great and fun. Enemies range from soldiers with rocket launchers to store giant robot screaming Headless Kamikaze and bombs for hands. The environments are alien planets, ancient Egyptian pyramids and tropical rainforests.
